Syracuse QB Eric Dungey vaults over defenders for touchdown (Video)
Syracuse freshman quarterback Eric Dungey showed off his vertical when he jumped over Virginia defenders en route to a touchdown.
Let’s face it, quarterbacks aren’t known for their leaping ability. However, Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey proved that signal-callers do indeed have hops. The freshman is a playmaker to say the least and has certainly made the most of his opportunity after an injury to starting quarterback Terrel Hunt meant that Dungey’s number would be called upon and he has answered the call to this point.
An all-state jumper at Lakeridge High School in Oregon, he vaulted himself over Virginia defenders as if they were stationary obstacles, perfecting his landing and racing to pay dirt for the touchdown. Taking a look at the play, not only did he jump, he jumped far. Jumping a good five yards or so, he made it seem as if this was a routine feat, as if he was walking into the end zone.
Being the uncoordinated person that I am, I was very impressed by the fact that not only did he jump ridiculously high, but he stuck the landing.
On the season, Dungey has shown that he is a dual-threat quarterback passing for 660 yards, seven touchdowns, and an interception as well as being able to get it done on the ground, pounding the rock 41 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
Dungey was not the only player to put forth a tremendous effort: The whole Syracuse team did as well, but ultimately it was not enough as they lost to the Cavaliers 44-28 in three overtime sessions. The end result is more important than one play of course, but at least this is one of the things Dungey can look at on film and be proud of.
