Boise State takes a big tumble in the Group of Five Power Rankings after a blowout loss and Memphis makes a move for the top spot after upsetting Ole Miss.

Boise State led for most of this season’s Group of Five rankings, but after a rough game last week they’re behind in the chase. Even before halftime, Boise State was thrown well off of its groove at Utah State. How far should the Broncos drop, and who are the favorites from the Group of Five now?

This week’s AP and Coaches Top 25 Polls have each placed Memphis, Toledo, Houston and Temple in the polls together for the first time this season.

Although Utah State handled Boise State last week, they were only given a small handful of votes for the victory, and the Broncos are still receiving votes in each poll.

We won’t know for a few more weeks exactly where each program is in the national scheme of things. The Playoff Committee releases their first rankings at 7:30 ET on the third of November, which is the first Tuesday of the month.

From that point we’ll be able to gauge which of all these teams truly leads the Group of Five, along with any possible shots that one of them ends up in the Playoff.

Strength of schedule actually may not end up too bad for some of those American Conference teams, since the conference won a good chunk of out of conference games. Some of these wins include Penn State and Ole Miss.

The top four on this list have a very good shot at making a New Years Six Bowl, but the bunch that follow at least still have the possibility of making it. There should be at least one Group of Five team to go through the regular season an undefeated. At most, however, there will be two by Bowl Season (The AAC Champ and Toledo).
