Butch Davis – Former Miami Head Coach

Butch Davis was the head coach of the Canes from 1995-2000 and returned the program to the heights they experienced in the late 80s and early 90s. He went 51-20 during his five years as the team’s head coach and built the nucleus for the team that would win a national championship under Larry Coker.

He left Miami to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns before returning to the college game with the North Carolina Tar Heels where he had three 8-5 seasons after a 4-8 first year in Chapel Hill. But his time in North Carolina was cut short after he was fired amid the school’s academic misconduct scandal.

He works as an analyst for ESPN and if Bobby Petrino can go back to Louisville, certainly Miami can take back Davis who would recruit the heck out of the state and at least field a respectable team.
