Al Golden’s time as the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes is over and here are 10 candidates who could replace him

After allowing 42 points in the first half en route to their 58-0 loss to the Clemson Tigers on Saturday afternoon, the Miami Hurricanes have seen enough of Al Golden and announced he was fired on Sunday.

He entered the season on the hot seat after a disappointing 6-7 season stalled any sort of momentum and progress Golden made in his previous three seasons on the job.

Golden show signs of turning the program around with a nine-win season the pivotal Year 3, but ever since then, the Canes have regressed to the point of hitting rock bottom on Saturday.

Miami wasn’t even competitive in their 58-0 loss to No. 6 Clemson as Miami played in front of a nationally televised audience on ABC during the noon time slot and were thoroughly embarrassed and Miami may not be able to wait until the end of the year to fire Golden.

The loss broke a 71-year old record for the worst loss in Miami history and the school should just cut ties right now and begin looking for his replacement to take Miami back to where the fans, administration and former players believe they belong, which is among the best in the nation.

It’s not so long ago that Miami was on top of the college football mountain when they were the best program in the country at the turn of the century under Butch Davis and later Larry Coker.

Miami can get there again, if they make the right hire to replace Golden.
