College GameDay headed to Temple for Notre Dame game

ESPN was at James Madison last weekend but College GameDay is returning to the FBS ranks but will be at a non-traditional power this weekend.

College GameDay has been a jinx for teams hosting ESPN’s wildly popular college football pregame show as the Michigan Wolverines lost in improbable fashion two weeks ago and the previously undefeated James Madison Dukes were upset this week by the Richmond Spiders.

Yes, hosting College GameDay is a prestigious honor and I’m just having fun with the jinx talk, but maybe it does put a little pressure on the host team. Nevertheless, we’ll see if that streak can be snapped this week as GameDay is headed to Philadelphia, PA. and the campus of the Temple Owls for their game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

We had to be a little patient as they took their time making the decision to head to Temple instead of Pullman, WA where the Washington State Cougars are playing their best football in years for head coach Mike Leach. But in the end, GameDay producer Lee Fitting and company are headed to Temple, which had campaigned for this honor since it became a possibility in the last week.

This should be a great opportunity for Temple to prove to a national audience that they’re more than just a good team from the American Athletic Conference and a team than can hang with a prestigious program like a Notre Dame team who has only one loss this year.
