LSU’s Brandon Harris, Malachi Dupre help flooded motorist, diabetic son

LSU quarterback Brandon Harris and wide receiver Malachi Dupre helped a young woman and her diabetic son who had their car overtaken by flood waters.

Brandon Harris and Malachi Dupre have teamed up to some highlight-reel plays for the undefeated LSU Tigers this season as the pair of sophomores have complemented running back Leonard Fournette well for the College Football Playoff and SEC contenders. However, their teamwork off the field to help a pair of flood victims was their best play of the year.

Baton Rouge was hit hard with flooding over the weekend and one young mother and her son who is a diabetic were swept up in the flood waters on Sunday and Harris and Dupre dove into the water to retrieve insulin from the submerged car.

“I’m told that two of our guys — during that monsoon that we had — stepped in and helped a stranded motorist and her child,” coach Les Miles said Tuesday, via WWL-4. “Basically, they went into a car that had insulin in it for a diabetic son, went under water and got it. That was Brandon Harris and Malachi Dupre doing good things on their own without direction.”

We already knew Dupre and Harris were rising stars for LSU based on their improved play as sophomores, but this trumps anything they’ll do on the field this year — including if the duo teamed up for the game-winning touchdown to beat Alabama, the SEC Championship or a national championship.

Kudos to Harris and Dupre for showing they are both incredible people who also happen to be pretty good football players too.
