As with any good horror movie, this list has a twist. It’s impossible to narrow this list down to 10 guys, so we have a tie for the tenth most frightening player in the Big Ten between Jabrill Peppers and Nate Sudfeld of the Indiana Hoosiers.
In spite of suffering an ankle injury in a close 34-27 loss to Ohio State on October 3rd and missing the following game against Penn State (a much less inspiring 29-7 loss), Nate Sudfeld is still having a very strong season for Indiana. Through seven games played this season, Sudfeld has completed 142 of his 226 passing attempts, good for a 62.8 completion percentage, third best in the Big Ten.
He’s also thrown for 2049 yards so far, just 21 yards behind Connor Cook, who leads the conference in passing yards. He’s throwing for 9.1 yards per attempt, which leads the conference by almost a whole yard over Cook’s 8.2, and he has throwing 14 touchdowns against four interceptions. He leads the conference in passer rating with a mark of 155.9.
The 6-foot-6, 240 lbs senior has an NFL arm, granted maybe not a starter at the next level, but leads the Hoosiers against the undefeated and No. 10 Iowa Hawkeyes in a home tilt this weekend. After coming up just shy against the Buckeyes, perhaps this Hawkeye squad will be the giant that Sudfeld and the Hoosiers can slay.
