Jourdan Lewis has been one of the leaders for the dangerous Michigan Wolverine defense. The Michigan defense was projected to be a strength for the Wolverines, but nobody could have predicted the kind of juggernaut they have turned out to be so far this season.
Ranked first in the country in both total defense and points against, giving up just 210 yards per game and 9.3 points per game, this domination would be impossible without an absolute shutdown cornerback like Lewis.
Lewis is currently tied for the most passes defended in the nation with 14 of them, a high number for a guy as highly regarded as he is, but with the defensive backfield the Wolverines have, quarterbacks just have to pick their poison. Picking Lewis as a poison hasn’t worked out well for opposing offenses.
Lewis has two interceptions this year, one of which he returned for a touchdown against the Northwestern Wildcats.
He has also been named a candidate for the Jim Thorpe Award, awarded the top defensive back in college football.
