Jim Harbaugh wants fewer idiots on social media
Jim Harbaugh has a message for Michigan fans about their behavior on social media.
Social media is a difficult monster to police but Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh is trying to do what he can to make sure Michigan fans are acting in a first-class manner and not making themselves look like idiots.
Harbaugh tweeted on Wednesday morning, “I respectfully ask that fans conduct themselves in a 1st-class manner on social media when commenting on players, opponents and prospects.”
This stems from the decommitment of top running back recruit Kareem Walker from Ohio State, and may end up at Michigan, and the steady stream of vitriol of comments directed and the nation’s No. 1 running back from Buckeye fans, including from one fanatic who wished Walker blows out his knee and dies poor, among other insults.
Now that doesn’t represent the majority of Ohio State fans and it doesn’t mean Ohio State is the only program who has fans who have the tendency to be a terrible human being on Twitter, because every single fan base has them and if you disagree, you need to remove the blinders and live in the real world like the rest of us.

But Harbaugh is taking a proactive measure to make sure cases like the one referenced above aren’t something that would give the program a black eye, even if it is a black eye on social media.
Of course, this request will be difficult to police because there’s always a few idiots who do a wonderful job of making themselves look like a poor excuse for a human, but you have to admire Harbaugh for trying to rid social media of as many idiots as possible.
