Alabama QB Jake Coker: Ole Miss wouldn’t want to play us again
Alabama has a big game against LSU on Saturday but that hasn’t stopped quarterback Jake Coker from thinking about the Ole Miss loss earlier this year and how he wants some revenge.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are getting ready to host the LSU Tigers in what could be an SEC West elimination game, certainly for Alabama should they lose, but Tide quarterback Jake Coker is using a loss earlier this year to Ole Miss to fuel his motivation.
That loss still obviously stings, as it should, after five turnovers and a fluky deflected pass that went for a touchdown helped lead the Rebels past the Tide in an early season affair. But Coker thinks if the two teams were to meet again, the results would be different.
“They wouldn’t want to play us again,” Coker said, via CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd. “I think everybody here wishes that [a rematch] could happen … They’re a good team, but we shouldn’t have played the way we played.”
That’s the mindset Coker should have. Ole Miss is a good team, potentially a great team, but he’s right when he says Alabama shouldn’t have played the way they played.
Five turnovers and the fluky touchdown Ole Miss scored was still only enough to beat Alabama by six points.

So with Alabama playing their worst game of the year and Ole Miss taking advantage of one mistake after another and playing their best game of the year, it was only barely enough to escape with the road win.
I’m sure Ole Miss will see these comments and have a pretty hearty laugh about it all since a rematch won’t happen this year, so they’ll have to wait until next year, but Coker won’t be there to get any revenge as he’ll be out of eligibility.
But maybe it’s time Coker focused on the team he will be playing on Saturday in LSU in what could be the game of the year.
