All-Time Program Record: 588–595–50
As a member of the SEC, Vanderbilt has been predominantly a hapless program. If they were to move to a Group of Five conference, they might become middle of the road. Since 1897, Vanderbilt has never won a title in a major FBS conference.
For decades, playing Vanderbilt was on par with members of “The League” getting their Taco Bye, and if you lost the Vandy game, the season was considered lost. The best shot the Commodores had of becoming a serious SEC contender is now manning the sidelines in Happy Valley.

Vandy falls under the category of a fine academic institution (aka: nerd academy) finding themselves overmatched in a conference where even good programs have a difficult time winning. Nashville is a fantastic town, and has a lot of great winning traditions. College football will never be one of them.
