Starting with the Group of Five conference, there are a great number of teams who simply aren’t going to rise to the level of a national title contender. Many of these programs will probably never see a playoff game or New Year’s Six bowl game.

There are a few Group of Five programs that do stand a chance of winning a title, especially if they eventually move into a Power-5 Conference, including Boise State, Northern Illinois, Cincinnati and Houston.

There are some other fine programs here, but none of them will be able to challenge for an FBS national championship.
