Texas Tech Red Raiders

All-Time Program Record: 544–419–32

Texas Tech is a fine football program that has found some pockets of success, but recruiting (and playing) against Texas, Baylor, TCU and Texas A&M make it extremely tough for the Red Raiders to put together a string of successful seasons.

Tech didn’t start playing football until 1925, and they’ve managed to win 11 different conference titles and have been in 36 postseason bowls. But they are a mid-tier program and likely always will be unless they move to a smaller conference outside the Power-5.

There are just too many big programs in Texas who get the big signees, and Texas Tech hasn’t been able to crack more than just a couple of big time recruits each season. Wild things can happen in Lubbock, but a national title in football won’t be one of them.
