The College Football Playoff committee made a few enemies earlier this week when they slotted the 7-1 Alabama Crimson Tide into the No. 4 spot of its poll ahead of undefeated Baylor, TCU, Michigan State, Iowa and Oklahoma State.
Now that the Crimson Tide completely dominated No. 2 LSU on both side of the football in a 30-16 victory in Tuscaloosa Friday night (and TCU and Michigan State lost), the committee looks like they got it right.
The Tigers, who held the No. 1 spot in our weekly SEC Power Rankings for more than a month, just couldn’t get going on offense and had no answer for Alabama running back Derrick Henry on defense.

Henry gained 210 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns and looked much more like the Heisman Trophy front-runner LSU’s Leonard Fournette has been all season. Fournette gained a grand total of 31 rushing yards – 162 yards shy of his average through the first seven games of the season.
It’s easy to project that Alabama has passed LSU for the No. 1 spot in our Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings heading into next week, but how far should the Tigers fall and how does the rest of the league shake out?
Florida struggled, but clinched the SEC East with a 7-6 victory over Vanderbilt. Should the Gators – who have only South Carolina left to play among conference opponents – move into the No. 2 spot? Mississippi State, who is now 7-2 overall and hosts Alabama next weekend in Starkville, is also moving quickly up the rankings while Ole Miss took a hit with a 53-52 overtime loss to Arkansas.
As we look ahead to Week 11, let’s rank each Southeastern Conference team from No. 14 to No. 1.
