Previously undefeated Memphis and Toledo fell short last week. The Houston Cougars are now the last undefeated Group of Five team remaining and top this week’s Group of Five power rankings.

Upsets sprang up around the country last week, and the Group of Five didn’t go without some of its own. Memphis, who was expected to be the top team among the Group of Five, lost at home to a good Navy team.

In the middle of the week, the notoriously talented Northern Illinois Huskies pulled off a win against Toledo to keep alive its chances of at least reaching 10 wins and perhaps a MAC Championship.

Houston hasn’t lost a game, but the team did get a scare when Cincinnati came into town on Saturday. Houston had a pretty good lead, but Cincinnati cut it short and lost by just three points. Cincinnati is now 5-4 but was competitive in each of their games. Houston is one win away from an impressive ten win season.

Just a few weeks remain in the regular season, but these are the ones that can have the most impact. Can Houston pull off an undefeated regular season? Could a two loss Boise State team actually end up reaching a major bowl game, despite being almost completely counted out a month into the season?

A lot of shake up is left this season, so who knows which teams will be in the top 25 from the group of five? The AAC is still the strongest conference, but could a team from another conference rise up?

Except for Cincinnati, all the teams that missed the cut are the same as last week. However, Northern Illinois, who wasn’t listed last week, jumped ahead this week due to their big win. Most of the other teams that missed the cut had a bye week.

Just missed the cut: Southern Miss, Georgia Southern, Louisiana Tech, San Diego State
