Texas A&M’s good fortune on the recruiting trail continued late Thursday evening when 2016 four-star all-purpose back Trayveon Williams (C.E. King. Houston, Texas) committed to the program. This news was first reported by Taylor Hamm of 247Sports.

Williams is the No. 308 player in the class of 2016, the No. 7 all-purpose back and the No. 49 player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Originally committing to TCU in May, he decommitted from the program on November 9 before naming the Aggies his leader on November 11.

Even with his commitment to the Horned Frogs, the Aggies were still a very big part of his recruitment,. He attended Texas A&M’s Junior Day on January 25 before being offered the same day. He named the Aggies his leader on February 2, still early in the recruiting process.

Things picked up again in the spring as he took an unofficial visit to College Station on April 25. He took one more visit to the campus on October 30, on the eve of the program’s 35-28 win over South Carolina before closing the book on his recruitment with this commitment.

He was recruited to the Aggies by running backs coach Clarence McKinney.

The 2016 Aggie troop is shaping up nicely, ranking No. 14 in the country and No. 6 in the SEC per the 247Sports Team Rankings. They have 17 commitments overall and seven of the four-star variety.

Williams is a versatile threat rushing for 2,191 yards and 25 touchdowns last season as well as catching the ball 20 times for 411 yards and five touchdowns. He should be able to flourish in the spread offense, and provide head coach Kevin Sumlin another weapon out of the backfield.
