Trevone Boykin injured his ankle in the first half of the TCU Horned Frogs against the Kansas Jayhawks and will not return, according to Fox reporter Kris Budden.

Boykin limped to the locker room after taking a sack late in the first quarter and earlier in the quarter slipped and his right ankle took the brunt of his weight after an awkward landing. TCU was entering the game with massive injury questions surrounding the wrist of the nation’s leading receiver, Josh Doctson, who wore a wrap on his wrist and was limited to one catch for 12 yards thus far.

Boykin is coming off his worst game of the season after throwing four interceptions in the loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys that saw his Heisman stock plummet. He needed a rebound performance against the winless Jayhawks to get back in the Heisman conversation, but with this injury, his Heisman pursuit could be officially over.

Prior to the injury, Boykin was five of eight passing for 54 yards and zero touchdowns. He also passed Andy Dalton for the most career pass attempts in program history and tied him for the most completions.

With Boykin out for the rest of the game Bram Kohlhausen, a transfer from Houston, will take over for him under center and try to avoid what would be a humiliating loss for TCU against Kansas who has lost their last 34 road games.
