14. Maryland (2-8, 0-6)

Starting over. It’s been a lost season for Maryland football with the dismissal of head coach Randy Edsall and a winless Big Ten campaign. The public search for a coach will begin in earnest in two weeks. Until then, Mike Locksley is making his bid for the job and the Terps are limping to finish. Maryland could only muster seven points and 262 yards against a suspect Spartan defense. The Terps turned it over five times.

13. Purdue (2-8, 1-5)

The record is similar to Maryland’s, but the stability and immediate future of the program is much stronger. Darrell Hazell will be back for 2016 and the Boilers’ most recent sign of life is a 21-14 loss to Northwestern. The development of freshman quarterback David Blough continued with a 26 for 45 day with 287 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Boilers matched the 8-2 Wildcats across the board statistically. Purdue’s pass defense was particularly effective; giving up just 9 completions in 19 attempts with two interceptions. Let’s see what the Boilers show next week against Iowa.
