This was a crazy week for college football, and we learned a lot about the Heisman Trophy race

What a week we had in college football after we saw the No. 6, 7, 9, and 10 teams all lose this week and those teams Heisman Trophy candidates saw their Heisman resume take a significant blow.

Baylor’s Corey Coleman, Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey, LSU’s Leonard Fournette and Utah’s Devontae Booker are all losing steam to their Heisman bid with players like Derrick Henry and Deshaun Watson continuing to lead their teams to big wins.

And then there’s Oklahoma State Cowboys quarterback Mason Rudolph, who after 11 weeks, has finally cracked the list. Oklahoma State hasn’t been getting a lot of respect this season despite their undefeated record, but they’re now just a few weeks away from a potential College Football Playoff berth.

McCaffrey and Coleman both took a hit in their Heisman stock, and Dalvin Cook has remained consistent throughout the season, despite all his injuries lingering.

More from Alabama Crimson Tide

TCU’s Trevone Boykin is starting to lose some edge after a loss two weeks ago and an injury last week, and so is Fournette after LSU dropped back-to-back games. While Boykin is battling injuries and a tough stretch of the schedule, Fournette is just struggling, not nearly the same runner we saw the first two months of the season.

Then there’s Ohio State Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliot, who much like Cook, has been consistent all season long. And then in comes Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has made the biggest jump in this week’s Heisman Watch.

This is going to be a great final two weeks of college football and players will play their way into the Heisman conversation and play their way out, but here’s how the Heisman Watch stands entering Week 12.
