With an 8-1 record, things seem to be looking up for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. However, a bit of bad news came their way Sunday.
Starting linebacker James Onwualu will miss Saturday’s game against the Boston College Eagles at Fenway Park due to a second-degree MCL sprain in his left knee.
He left Saturday’s game against Wake Forest and was on crutches for the rest of the day. If there was any good news to come out of this besides a 28-7 win, it is that he will not need surgery.
Onwualu a junior has been a two-year starter for the Irish and has played well this season, tallying 36 tackles, five of those for a loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

This is certainly a loss for the Irish, but they still should do well against what is a stagnant Boston College offense. With 123.4 passing yards per game and 153.2 rushing yards per game, the Irish should be able to contain the Eagles.
If anything this may mean that they have to play more aggressively against the run and bring mire blitz packages to help compensate for the loss.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m under the lights of primetime as the game will be broadcast on NBC. It is sure to be a “David vs. Goliath” type of matchup as the Eagles look to play the role of spoilers. This is certainly a trap game for the Irish and it will be interesting to see what their game plan will be to combat this.
