As Virginia Tech takes the field at Lane Stadium Saturday in what will be head coach Frank Beamer’s final home game of his head coaching career, the Hokies will be donning new uniforms which should add even more flair to the occasion.

Monday, it was announced the program will wear all-black uniforms with the number 25 on the side. The number represents Beamer’s playing number while at Virginia Tech.

In addition, a patch with the number 29 will also be put on the uniform and helmet, which represents the amount of seasons he has served as the head man of the Hokies. The Virginia Tech Equipment Team released these photos on Twitter earlier in the day.

Virginia Tech and North Carolina will kick off at noon in what should be an exciting contest. North Carolina comes into the game sporting a 9-1 record, which includes a 6-0 conference record and a 2-0 record on the road.

Virginia Tech is holding their own sitting at 5-5. They will try to get back to a .500 record at home as they currently sit at 2-3.

The Tar Heels won their last game against the Miami Hurricanes by a 59-21 score, while the Hokies had a tougher time with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, winning narrowly 23-21.

I have always been a big fan of all-black anything, so I love these uniforms. They offer a nice change of pace to the grind of the college football season. Maybe just maybe they will bring luck to Virginia Tech as they try to “Win one for the Beamer” and wrap up his coaching career in style.
