Miami Beach Bowl

  • Who: Western Kentucky vs. USF
  • Where: Marlins Park, Miami
  • When: Monday, Dec. 21, 2:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Western Kentucky quarterback Brandon Doughty is one of the more productive signal-callers in the country and could put on a show in his final game for the Hilltoppers.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

  • Who: Ohio vs. Nevada
  • Where: Albertsons Stadium, Boise, Idaho
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 22, 3:30 p.m. (ESPN)

One of the best bowl names out there. If you’re not doing anything on a Tuesday afternoon you can do a lot worse than watching a college football game while you get your presents wrapped and under the Christmas tree.

Boca Raton Bowl

  • Who: Temple vs. Toledo
  • Where: FAU Stadium, Boca Raton, Florida
  • When: Tuesday, Dec. 22, 7 p.m. (ESPN)

Temple and Toledo were both ranked and undefeated in November but things took a turn for the worse. Still, this is a pretty good matchup for one of the first bowl games of bowl season. We’ll see if Matt Rhule is still the coach at Temple at kickoff or if Virginia Tech or another Power Five school with a coaching vacancy can lure him away from the Owls program.

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl

  • Who: Boise State vs. Western Michigan
  • Where: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego
  • When: Wednesday, Dec. 23, 4:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Boise State hasn’t had a typical Boise State season. Meanwhile, Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck may not even be around to coach this game if a school like Illinois hires him away.

GoDaddy Bowl

  • Who: Bowling Green vs. Arkansas State
  • Where: Ladd-Peebles Stadium, Mobile, Alabama
  • When: Wednesday, Dec. 23, 8 p.m. (ESPN)

Bowling Green head coach Dino Babers is one of the best coaches you may not know about and could be hired away before this game is played. Arkansas State is used to playing in this bowl game so think of them as the defacto home team.

Popeyes Bahamas Bowl

  • Who: Marshall vs. Northern Illinois
  • Where: Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, Nassau, Bahamas
  • When: Thursday, Dec. 24, noon (ESPN)

Last year’s Bahamas Bowl was bananas, so maybe history repeats itself, and if nothing else, you can watch just to see what the Bahamas look this time of year while we’re pelted with feet of snow on Christmas Eve.

Hawai’i Bowl

  • Who: BYU vs. Arizona
  • Where: Aloha Stadium, Honolulu
  • When: Thursday, Dec. 24, 8 p.m. (ESPN)

Arizona has disappointed all year until they upset Utah last week. BYU has been up and down this year but Tanner Mangum is a player to watch at quarterback moving forward. Only a freshman, he has a high ceiling and could take down another Power Five opponent.
