After ten consecutive weeks of games, the Ole Miss Rebels finally had an opportunity to rest last weekend during a much-needed bye week.

Following two strong performances against Texas A&M and Auburn, the Rebels limped into their off week following a heartbreaking 53-52 overtime loss to Arkansas. Ole Miss – with one of the most talented defensive units in the nation that includes Robert Nkemdiche and preseason All-American candidate Tony Conner, who played his first game in six weeks – surrendered an unheard of 605 total yards to the Razorbacks. Arkansas controlled the football for 41:03 minutes in regulation, so the Landshark defense was completely worn out on both the field and on the scoreboard.

On the bright side, Ole Miss hasn’t had much trouble scoring points this season, and the Rebels lead the SEC in scoring offense (40.7 points per game) and total offense (526.6 total yards per game). Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has 68 receptions for 1,002 yards and seven touchdowns this year and caught seven passes for 132 yards and a score against the Razorbacks. Treadwell has now surpassed 100 receiving yards and scored at least one TD in each of his last five games.

Looking ahead, the Rebels host a suddenly struggling LSU squad in the Magnolia Bowl Saturday.
