Josh Doctson will miss games against Oklahoma and Baylor as the TCU wide receiver recovers from a wrist injury suffered in the Nov. 7 loss to Oklahoma State, but could return for a bowl game.

This is a crushing blow for TCU who is also dealing with Trevone Boykin‘s high ankle sprain that has him listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against the Sooners.

Doctson tried to play through the wrist ailment in last week’s win against Kansas with a wrap around it but only managed one catch and wasn’t his normal dominant self.

He was the nation’s leading receiver at the time of the injury and despite the injury diminishing his production at a drastic rate the last two weeks, Doctson still ranks second in the nation in yards with 1,327. That’s only 15 yards behind Bowling Green’s Roger Lewis who has played one more game.

Doctson has 79 receptions and 14 touchdowns on the year which rank. fifth and tied for second in the nation, respectively.

If Doctson is unable to return for the team’s bowl game, which according to the latest bowl projections will be against USC in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Jan. 2 in San Antonio, Texas, this ends his career as a TCU Horned Frog.

He’s got a chance to be a first round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. According to CBS Sports, he’s the No. 32 ranked prospect and No. 4 receiver and one NFL scout told Albert Breer of NFL.com that he’s a first  or second round pick with “special ball skills.”

For his career, the 6-3, 195-pounder has 179 receptions, 2,784 yards and 29 touchdowns during his three years in Fort Worth. He began his college career at Wyoming where he had 35 receptions for 393 yards and five touchdowns before the Mansfield, TX native transferred to TCU after the 2011 season.
