The game between the USC Trojans and Oregon Ducks was believed to be a Pac-12 Championship Game preview, or at least a play-in game or sorts for the two conference powers. However, both teams got off to disappointing 3-3 starts with USC firing their head coach Steve Sarkisian and Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams suffering an injury that dramatically affected his play.
While the preseason shine is gone for this weekend’s matchup, it’s still highly intriguing after both teams rebounded from their poor starts to win four straight games and get to 7-3. Adams is healthy and USC interim head coach Clay Helton is making a case for him to have the interim tag removed from his job description.
Oregon has the best offense in the conference and are a completely different team with a healthy Adams and running back Royce Freeman is a flat-out beast, but the Ducks also have the worst defense in the conference and I think USC can take advantage.
Cody Kessler didn’t live up to the preseason Heisman hype, but with JuJu Smith-Schuster and the rapidly developing Ronald Jones II at running back, I think the Trojans score just enough against the Ducks in Autzen Stadium.
