Houston loses and Navy moves to the top of the Group of Five Power Rankings behind Heisman candidate Keenan Reynolds.

Tom Herman lost for the first time as the head coach at Houston as the Cougars fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with UConn’s defense proving too much for the potent offensive.

Houston won’t go undefeated and any sliver of a chance they had a playoff spot is gone. They control their destiny for a New Year’s Six bowl game, but their time at the top of the Group of Five Power Rankings is now over.

Navy should be the consensus number one team from among the Group of Five behind quarterback Keenan Reynolds who will garner some Heisman consideration.

The Midshipmen have been impressive all season, losing once to a Notre Dame squad that may make the playoff with a win over the Stanford Cardinal in their season finale. The teams following the Midshipmen, however, are up for debate because there’s not much separating the top half.

Besides Navy, a lot of potent Group of Five teams who looked good the first 10 weeks of the season have fallen off the pace a bit in mid-November. Memphis and Boise State are two teams hit the hardest in November after once holding down the No. 1 spot in these power rankings.

Memphis has lost three straight games and Boise State, the preseason favorite to win the New Year’s Six Bowl bid won’t even win the Mountain West title following stunning consecutive home losses. Air Force and San Diego State are the teams playing for the Mountain West Championship after being overlooked in the preseason.

With one more week in the regular season, here’s how the Group of Five Power Rankings shake out. But first, here are the first five that missed the cut for the top 10.

Missed the cut: Memphis, Bowling Green, Louisiana Tech, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern
