It’s Rivalry Week. Bragging rights, division titles and College Football Playoff hopes are on the line as we pick each SEC football game against the spread.
It seems like only yesterday that the 2015 college football season was kicking off, but after 12 weeks of games it’s already Rivalry Week – the final week of the regular season.
The Iron Bowl always receives top billing and the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide hold the SEC’s best chances of a spot in the College Football Playoff. A win over Auburn would send the Tide to Atlanta to take on the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship Game where Alabama would have an opportunity to seal its spot in the final four for the second straight season.
Should Alabama falter, Ole Miss can win the SEC West with a victory over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. Of course, even an early season win over the Tide and an SEC title aren’t likely to send the three-loss Rebels to the playoff, so 10-1 Florida is the league’s next best option. However, the Gators have struggled to put away opponents recently, including last week’s startling 20-14 overtime victory over Florida Atlantic.

As embarrassing as it was, the close call for the 31-point favorite was one of only two correct predictions in last week’s SEC picks against the spread. A 2-6 effort (with Kentucky’s blowout win over Charlotte as the second win) brings our total to a barely positive 46-43 this year – the first time all season we’ve flirted with .500.
- 2015 Straight Up: 65-24 (.730)
- 2015 Against the Spread: 46-43 (.516)
- 2015 Over/Under: 49-40 (.551)
- Last Week Straight Up: 7-1 (.875)
- Last Week Against the Spread: 2-6 (.250)
- Last Week Over/Under: 5-3 (.625)
No sweat, we’ve got nine opportunities this week. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at our SEC predictions against the spread for Rivalry Week.
