Illinois Fighting Illini

Illinois is one of those programs that everyone feels could be bigger and better than it is…but never ends up being. Some think of this as a program just waiting to blossom with the close proximity to Chicago and St. Louis.

The Fighting Illini have seen four head coaches in the last 11 years, the same amount of time Miles has been at LSU. Each time a new coach is brought in, hopes renew and then are quickly dashed.

Miles could be the next SEC coach to head for the Big Ten to take over a program badly in need of some TLC. This is a far cry from the situation when Urban Meyer took over at Ohio State, but Miles’ recruiting ability was well as playing in a conference and division that are be much less competitive than the SEC West could have its advantages.

Like UCF, this would be a big longshot. Miles might not be in the mood to be the next guy who fails at turning Illinois into a team of consequence in the Big Ten, but there are some good selling points to this job.
