Iron Bowl 2015: Jeremy Johnson reportedly named starting QB for Auburn Tigers
By Jacob Yturri
Auburn will not shake up their offense going into the Iron Bowl. The Tigers will reportedly start Junior quarterback Jeremy Johnson.
According to AL.com’s Brandon Marcello, the Auburn Tigers will start Jeremy Johnson for the fourth consecutive game, after redshirt freshman Sean White was injured several games ago. The Tigers opened the season with Johnson as the quarterback.
Johnson was considered a preseason Heisman candidate, even though prior to this season he never played a large amount of snaps. After a poor start to the season, Johnson was benched after Auburn lost to LSU on September 19th. He regained the starting job on November 7th, before the Tigers faced off against the Texas A&M Aggies.

In his last three games, Johnson has completed 40-58 passes for 356 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Additionally, last week he rushed for a pair of touchdowns in a win (56-34) over Idaho.
Moving forward, Johnson will have his hands full as he attempts to wreck the Alabama’s season. If Johnson can play up to his preseason projection then the Auburn Tigers could upset the highly favored Alabama Crimson Tide.
While Johnson has struggled greatly this season, a strong performance against Alabama could help jump spark his collegiate career. In other words, a good ending to this season would place him into the driver’s seat going into spring practices.
Ultimately, expect to see Johnson play above average against Alabama. He has issues with accuracy and decision-making. I would expect one touchdown, one interception, and around 230 yards against the stingy Tide defense.
