Stanford Recruiting: 4-Star RB Sione Heimuli-Lund commits to Cardinal
Stanford secured a commitment from 2017 four-star running back Sione Heimuli-Lund.
Late Friday, the Stanford Cardinal picked up a commitment from 2017 four-star running back Sione Heimuli-Lund (Brighton. Salt Lake City, Utah). Heimuli-Lund is the No. 117 player in his class, No. 10 running back and the No. 3 player in the state of Utah per the 247SportsComposite Rankings.
He was offered by 10 programs, and was offered by Stanford on April 9. In between then and his commitment, he was offered by Arizona State, Colorado, and Vanderbilt and took an unofficial visit to Oklahoma.
With this commitment, this marks the first one for the Cardinal in the 2017 class. Because of it, the class currently ranks No. 34 nationally and No. 6 in the Pac-12 per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

What does he bring to the table for Stanford? Shiftiness and explosiveness. He is not the fastest, and as soon as he touches the ball, he shifts his feet to elude the defender. Although it may look like such a minor thing on film, it helps him gain the extra yards he needs.
He should help Stanford gain yards in bunches and his ability to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time will be a tremendous asset.
A big domino fell in the 2017 recruiting class and now we wait to see which one will topple next.

Could Stanford become “RB U?” We have seen the success of sophomore Christian McCaffrey (1,546 yards, seven touchdowns) who should join former Stanford running back Toby Gerhart as a Heisman finalist and one has to wonder if Heimuli- Lund will follow in his footsteps.
