Dabo Swinney won the ACC Coach of the Year award, marking Clemson’s first Coach of the Year since 2003.

Life is pretty good for Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney at the moment.  He currently has a team who is No. 1 in the country, undefeated at 12-0, and now he can add a personal accolade to that list as on Tuesday, he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Football Coach of the Year.

He tallied 27 of 50 votes which came from the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Coming in second was North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora who received 21 votes. Florida State Seminoles and Pittsburgh Panthers head coaches Jimbo Fisher and Pat Narduzzi each received one vote, respectively.

Swinney does not have a whole lot of time to think about his new hardware at the moment. His Tigers are set to take on Fedora’s Tar Heels, winners of the Coastal Division in the ACC Championship Game set to take place Saturday evening.

Currently, the Tigers own the longest active winning streak in the nation at 15 games, which includes the final three games of last season. This ties the school record set by the legendary Tiger teams of 1947-49.

Swinney has done a remarkable job as the Clemson head man, posting a 44-7 mark, which includes an 8-0 mark against ACC teams this year, marking the first undefeated in-conference season for the Tigers since the 1991 troop went 6-0-1.

This ACC Coach of the Year accolade is the first one for Swinney and the first one for a Tiger head coach since Tommy Bowden won the award in the 2003 campaign.
