The Heisman candidates have all played their final game and Deshaun Watson and Christian McCaffrey went out in style but can they chase down Derrick Henry?
The Heisman candidates have all played their final game before the presentation ceremony, so now all we can do is analyze their performances and rank them from there.
We only had three of our top five candidates play this week, as the Oklahoma Sooners didn’t have a conference championship game, and the Ohio State Buckeyes were left out of their conference championship game. The lack of championship game shouldn’t theoretically hurt their chances to win the trophy, but it certainly helps playing on a bigger stage, giving the voters one last look at a tough opponent.
That left us with Alabama’s Derrick Henry, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey with one last chance to make a big impression on the Heisman voters.

Alabama started the day off with the SEC Championship Game, where Henry single-handedly outgained the Florida Gators. As of now, it seems Henry clinched the Heisman Trophy. Or did he?
We saw Watson lead his Clemson Tigers to a perfect 13-0 record, and he recorded five touchdowns on the night. And McCaffrey ended the day with 461 all-purpose yards in a pretty convincing win over the USC Trojans to clinch the Pac-12 Championship.
Let’s take a look at the final Heisman rankings before Saturday’s presentation from the Downtown Athletic Club in New York.
