Laquon Treadwell: Ole Miss receiver expected to declare for NFL Draft
Ole Miss Rebels junior receiver Laquon Treadwell is leaning toward declaring early for the NFL Draft.
In a move that won’t come as a surprise to anyone, Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is leaning toward declaring for the 2016 NFL Draft, according to NFL Media’s Rand Getlin.
He had 76 catches for 1,082 yards and eight touchdowns to establish new career-highs in all three categories.
Treadwell came to Ole Miss as the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver recruit and as part of the Rebels’ top-10 recruiting class that also featured No. 1 overall recruit Robert Nkemdiche and No. 1 offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, both of whom are expected to declare for the 2016 NFL Draft as well and they could both be top-five picks.
Treadwell made a full recovery from his broken ankle suffered last year against Auburn and delivered his best college season with quarterback Chad Kelly making it a priority to get him the ball as much as possible.
At 6-2, and a slimmed down 210 pounds, down from the 229 he played at his first two years, Treadwell showed more explosion and looked quicker getting in and out of his breaks this year.
He projects as a first round pick and could be the first receiver taken with a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine in February and at Ole Miss’ pro day later that spring.

He’s been compared to Dez Bryant because of his combination of size, speed and strength and ability to make the difficult catch look routine so if he has the type of NFL career as him, Treadwell will be a future Pro Bowl player for the NFL team smart enough to draft him.
