The Clemson Tigers knew they had something special when they successfully landed former blue-chip recruit Deshaun Watson to come Clemson, S.C. two years ago. He showed flashes of brilliance when he came in for starting quarterback Cole Stoudt as a true freshman last year.
Watson eventually won the starting job, but injuries knocked him out of the lineup in the second half of his first year and ended it prematurely after tearing his ACL.
The biggest question surrounding Watson wasn’t about his talent, rather if he could stay healthy and live up the enormous potential he showed early in his career.

Fast forward to his sophomore year and Watson is a Heisman Trophy finalist for the ACC Champions and the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff after leading Clemson to an undefeated record.
He is a longshot to win the Heisman, trailing Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry and Stanford Cardinal all-purpose running back Christian McCaffrey, but being a finalist is an honor in its own right.
