Larry Fitzgerald was a little more than 100 votes away from winning the 2003 Heisman Trophy over Oklahoma’s Jason White. In that year, he had 92 receptions for 1,672 yards and 22 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore. Even in his freshman year, he caught for 1,005 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He only played two seasons at Pittsburgh, but he was proving to be a great receiver since he set foot on campus and his production showed over the course of his two seasons. He went on to earn consensus All-American honors, won the Biletnikoff Award, Big East Offensive Player of the Year and the Walker Camp Player of the Year. To this day, he still holds many Big East receiving records, including receiving touchdowns, and touchdowns.

He was every bit as dynamic and dependable then just as he is now in the NFL where he’s a future Hall of Famer. And back then, he even made his way on the cover of NCAA Football 2005, a feat that only the best student athletes can do after completing their NCAA journey.
