Oklahoma State recruited Allen out of high school and they made his top five list. While they do have a few quarterbacks available even after Allen would be eligible to play, the Cowboys still make for a decent option.

Mike Gundy is starting to bring the Cowboys to consistent relevance as well. He’s put the Cowboys in a bowl game in the last 10 years, and has had his team ranked eight of the last 10 years. While the Big 12 has proved to be brutal, and reaching the College Football Playoffs without a conference championship game might be difficult, this could be an intriguing play.

Given their success with Mason Rudolph, and the development of four-star quarterback John Kolar, this might not be the best move for Allen. He only has two years of eligibility, and unless Rudolph were to leave early for whatever reason, Allen would have to sit behind him for one year, which could be a deal breaker.
