Trevor Knight: Top 5 transfer options for former Oklahoma quarterback

Boy, is this team hoping a quarterback like Knight will drop in their laps. They could sure use one after yet another horrendous season in which they went 2-10 with eight double-digit losses.
Junior quarterback Matt Davis finished his season with a 4-for-18 passing day against Memphis in a 63-0 loss, so it’s safe to say the starting spot at QB would be Knight’s for the taking. He’d be playing in an AAC conference that had a surprising amount of coverage this season, with Houston, Memphis, Navy, and Temple all taking turns among the rankings.
Knight would be taking over a home-state program that hasn’t been to a bowl game since 2012, and hasn’t won more than eight games since 1984, three years before it was served the death penalty for recruiting violations.
There’d be no real expectations for Knight there, which could be a good or bad thing, but he would be allowed to regain his form against top competition with early games against Baylor and TCU next season. Throw in an in-state game against Houston and the challenges of Memphis, Navy, and other growing AAC teams, and SMU’s schedule might just offer the kind of contests Knight’s competitive streak would desire.
Even if SMU’s prospects for 2016 don’t seem too bright.
