Kyle Allen Transfer: Houston an ideal fit for former Texas A&M QB
Former Texas A&M Aggies starting quarterback Kyle Allen could continue his college football career with the Houston Cougars after visiting with head coach Tom Herman.
Kyle Allen will have his list of suitors after the former five-star recruit and starting quarterback for Texas A&M announced last week he is transferring out of the Aggies program and seeking a new start to his college career. But it turns out he may not have to go too far to find a new home.

Allen’s first visit since announcing his transfer was to meet with Houston head coach Tom Herman on Sunday, according to John P. Lopez of CBS Houston. Lopez reports Allen met with Herman and one other member of the coaching staff at an undisclosed location in town.
Herman previously recruited Allen when he was the offensive coordinator of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Houston has Greg Ward Jr. returning for his final year in 2016, so if Allen decided Houston was the place he wanted to transfer, he would sit out the mandated one season due to NCAA transfer rules and would be eligible in 2017 with the starting job his to take.
Allen may want to transfer to a Power Five school, but Houston is a more stable situation and poised to compete for conference and potential College Football Playoff berths than more than half of the Power Five schools and affords him the opportunity to work with Herman.

One of the brightest offensive minds in the sport, Herman helped develop Braxton Miller into a Big Ten Player of the Year, J.T. Barrett into a Big Ten record holder and Cardale Jones into the starting quarterback on a national champion at Ohio State. That ability to develop quarterbacks continued at Houston where Ward was one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation in 2015.
Allen will have plenty of options, but perhaps none better than Houston.
