Alabama is the No. 2 seed in the playoff but are receiving the best odds and are the 1-1 favorite to win the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, according to Las Vegas SuperBook. Henry and his Alabama team take on the No. 3 Michigan State Spartans in the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Eve and they are the biggest underdog of the four teams, receiving 7-1 odds.
The No. 1 Clemson Tigers have been atop the playoff standings since the first revealing of the playoff committee’s rankings but the betting community isn’t in love with Dabo Swinney’s team. Clemson is an underdog to the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners in their Orange Bowl matchup and they’re the No. 3 team in terms of national title odds, receiving 11-2 odds while Oklahoma trails only Alabama with 9-4 odds.
It’s easy to see why Alabama would be the betting favorite. They have the best player in the country and the best coach in the country and the best roster in the country. They have a championship pedigree and are the only team in the playoff who played in it last year. It’s easy to pick Alabama to win it all and that’s why they’re getting 1-1 odds. There’s little risk in picking them to win it all.
