Auburn Recruiting: 5-star DE Marlon Davidson signs with Tigers
The Auburn Tigers received great news on Wednesday when five-star defensive end Marlon Davidson reaffirmed his commitment with the program and signed his financial aid papers.
Marlon Davidson (Montgomery, AL. Greenville) has been committed to Auburn since September 4, but there was some doubt whether he’d stick with his commitment and sign with the Tigers on National Signing Day.

With Auburn not having a defensive coordinator after Will Muschamp left to take the head coaching job with the South Carolina Gamecocks and Davidson’s comments saying he wasn’t 100 percent committed had some Auburn fans on edge.
But they can take a deep breath now after Davidson said he is 100 percent committed and sent in his financial aid paperwork, according to 247Sports’ Keith Neibuhr. The 6-4, 260-pound defensive end is the nation’s No. 16 overall recruit, No. 2 strong-side defensive end and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Alabama, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Davidson took an official visit to Auburn two weeks ago and won’t take any other official visits because it’s the recruiting dead period and he is graduating from high school in a couple of weeks and will enroll at Auburn in January.

With the commitment of the five-star locked in, Auburn has their highest ranked recruit on the board and the 17th overall commitment for Gus Malzahn’s team. The class ranks 10th overall and fifth in the SEC, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.
There figure to be a handful of other recruits who pick Auburn between now and National Signing Day in February, so we’re only getting started with the wildness that will spill over from the recruiting trail.
