Kyler Murray Transfer: Texas reportedly not interested in Texas A&M transfer
What was once believed to be the likely transfer destination for former Texas A&M quarterback Kyler Murray no longer looks like a possibility with the Texas Longhorns soured on the former five-star recruit.
Kyler Murray announced he was transferring from the Texas A&M Aggies last week and the first school that came to mind for a place he could transfer was the Texas Longhorns who are in need of a program-changing quarterback.
Murray is a Texas native who attended powerhouse Allen high school, was recruited by Texas and even took a visit late in the recruiting process to Texas, despite being committed to Texas A&M. So there was mutual interest around this time a year ago for the No. 1 dual-threat recruit and Gatorade National Player of the Year.
However, a lot can change in a year, although Texas still needs a quarterback, but Murray is in need of a new home, but that new home apparently won’t be in Austin, where Rivals’ Anwar Richardson tweets Texas is not interested in Murray and are focused on 2016 commit Shane Buechele and 2017 commit Sam Ehlinger.
The 6-2, 185-pound Buechele is the highest ranked commitment on the board for Charlie Strong’s 2016 recruiting class and ranks as the No. 2 dual-threat and the No. 151 overall recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Meanwhile, the 6-4, 207-pound Ehlinger is a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 9 dual-threat recruit and the No. 332 overall recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
It’s fairly surprising Strong wouldn’t have some interest in Murray, but maybe he was turned off by seeing him complete 59.5 percent of his passes with only five touchdowns to seven interceptions. Or maybe he’s just committed to the guys who are committed to him.

The most likely scenario is Strong believes Murray is headed to the JUCO level so he can play baseball this year before heading to the MLB Draft.
