Foster Farms Bowl: UCLA vs Nebraska TV info, live stream, odds, prediction and more

Complete game preview for the Foster Farms Bowl featuring Josh Rosen and the UCLA Bruins and the Nebraska Cornhuskers who sports a losing record.

This is the first year teams with losing records were allowed to participate in bowl games due to a lack of bowl-eligible teams to fill out all the various bowl games this year.

That may water down the product a bit this winter, but it also gives a team like the Nebraska Cornhuskers who went 5-7 during the regular season to end their first season under head coach Mike Riley with some much-needed momentum heading into his sophomore season.

The UCLA Bruins had their share of struggles too this year, but not to the extent of the Cornhuskers, as they finished with a 8-4 record and a third place finish in the Pac-12 South as injuries derailed this year from being one that could have had playoff implications.

UCLA enters the bowl with losses in two of their last three games, but will want to send out standout running back Paul Perkins out with a win before he heads to the NFL.

Helping his cause will be freshman quarterback Josh Rosen, who the announcers will say “it’s so late in the season, he’s not really a freshman anymore, but the former five-star recruit has been as advertised with 3,351 yards and 20 touchdowns in his first year in Westwood.

Nebraska counters with Tommy Armstrong Jr. who has had his share of ups and downs this year and during his career in Lincoln. But after almost leading his team to an upset win against the Iowa Hawkeyes in their regular season finale, it’ll be interesting to see what he’s capable of against UCLA’s banged up defense.

Prediction

There’s plenty to play for on both sidelines as Nebraska looks to avoid its first eight-loss season since 1957 and UCLA looks to win their third straight bowl under head coach Jim Mora.

The Bruins aren’t favored by as many points as I would have imagined considering they are playing a default game in Santa Clara, CA and are the superior team, but this goes back to Nebraska being a team who has competed all year despite their lackluster record.

I think the Huskers make a game of this and I would take the points because I don’t think UCLA covers because Nebraska has the tendency to keep games close this year, before ultimately losing, and that’s what I envision in the Foster Farms Bowl.

I like Rosen and Perkins to combine for four total touchdowns and think Rosen will have a game that puts him on the Heisman radar for 2016.
