Previewing the Military Bowl with the Navy Midshipmen taking on the Pittsburgh Panthers in the last game for record-breaking quarterback Keenan Reynolds.

The Navy Midshipmen (10-2) and Pittsburgh Panthers (8-4) come together for the Military Bowl in what should be an exciting contest. With both teams possessing tremendous talent, it will be intriguing to see who can leave Annapolis, Maryland with a victory.

Navy comes into the game looking to continue its storybook season. Part of the reason for their success was senior quarterback Keenan Reynolds who finished in fifth place in the Heisman vote.

He ran for 1,221 yards and 21 touchdowns on 241 carries and set the FBS record for career touchdowns with 85 on December 5, but that was broken Louisiana Tech’s Kevin Dixon on Saturday. Now, he needs three to reclaim the record.

At receiver, junior Jamir Tillman was the team’s go-to-guy for the majority of the season. With 27 catches for 570 yards and five touchdowns, he proved to be a dependable target in the passing game. Both Reynolds and Tillman will need to play up to their capabilities if the Midshipmen want to win this game.

On the Pittsburgh sideline, junior Nathan Peterman emerged as a true passing talent in 2015. Throwing for 2,150 yards, 19 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Freshman running back Qadree Ollison wasn’t expected to be the featured back but after reigning ACC Player of the Year James Conner was lost to a season-ending knee injury after the opener, he became the featured back. Ollison ran for 204 times for 1,048 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Prediction

Reynolds had a fantastic season at the end of a fantastic career. He’s arguably the best player to come out of Navy since former Heisman winner Roger Staubach and will look to go out on top against a Pittsburgh team that looks to be on the rise under first-year head coach Pat Narduzzi.

Good things are in store for the program moving forward, but I’m going to side with Reynolds being the x-factor in this game and leads the Midshipmen to a win. I also think he gets the FBS career rushing touchdown record back with a monster performance on the ground.

The Midshipmen will win their second bowl came in a row and get their all-time bowl record back to .500 at 10-10.
