Nelson Spruce was likely the only bright spot for Colorado this season. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark by 53 and caught four touchdowns among his 89 receptions.

In every game this season, he caught at least five passes, and always picked up at least 60 yards. Though his touchdowns were seldom, he proved to be the true threat for the offense. It helped that sophomore receiver Shay Fields is starting to make a name for himself, as he took a lot of the pressure off of spruce.

Sefo Liufau is a serviceable quarterback, but it would be a stretch to say that he is a top half quarterback in the conference. The former three-star receiver had himself a great career at Colorado, breaking the Pac-12 career reception record, once held by Mike Thomas of Arizona.

Spruce isn’t going to be a guy that will single-handedly win Colorado games, but he was an integral part of their growing competitiveness and success. They might have only won four games this season, and only one conference game, ending the season on five-game losing streak, but this Colorado team held their opponents up, and caused some panic. Spruce’s hands were always extending out drives for Colorado, making the push for a comeback.
