NFL team reaches out to Ohio State’s Urban Meyer
Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer is one of the best college football coaches of all-time, but would he ever leave for the NFL?
Urban Meyer is getting ready to play Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Day, but on Wednesday, the head coach of Ohio State was asked if he had any inquiries from NFL teams interested in luring him away from the Buckeyes.

“I was reached out to, asked if I would be interested, and I’m not,” Meyer said Wednesday, via NFL.com.
Earlier in December, it was speculated the Cleveland Browns could make a run at the three-time national champ and lead the moribund franchise out of obscurity, which would be career suicide for Meyer, and he seems to have the self-awareness to recognize that.
"“I really enjoy where I’m coaching and who I’m coaching. At this point, my son’s in high school. We’re where we need to be. I really love my athletic director. I think the future’s bright. We’re recruiting well, I’m very happy with where we’re at,” Meyer added. “The NFL, Chip Kelly is one of my closest friends, Greg Schiano is one of my closest friends. A lot of times they say college coaches don’t make it very well. I don’t know who makes it well. People are getting fired left and right. Pete Carroll has done very well.”"
Meyer has one of the best jobs in the country and is a future hall of famer. He’s seen his contemporaries like Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier and Chip Kelly all go to the NFL and the results were far less successful at the next level.
I’m sure new assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Greg Schiano can give him a number of horror stories about why leaving a great college job for a bad NFL job is a bad idea.

He can stay at Ohio State as long as he’s healthy enough and motivated to do the job. If he took an NFL job, he could be out after one bad year.
