Trevone Boykin: TCU QB suspended for Alamo Bowl after assaulting officer
TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Trevone Boykin is suspended for the Alamo Bowl after he was arrested on charges of assault and public intoxication after allegedly hitting an officer.
The Alamo Bowl figured to be one of the better non-Playoff matchups of bowl season with TCU and the Oregon Ducks meeting, but the tone of that game takes a completely different tone with the arrest and suspension of TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin.

TCU’s senior quarterback was arrested and charged with third-degree felony assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication, according to News 4 San Antonio after he tried to start a physical altercation around 2 a.m. People at the bar recognized Boykin and began to heckle him according to the report and Boykin responded by throwing his fist but missed and hit a bar employee.
When the San Antonio police arrived on bicycles, Boykin had to be restrained by his friends from hitting an officer, according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. Boykin was restrained and officers had to threaten use of a stun gun to calm him down.
This arrest ends the TCU career of Boykin who finished fourth in last year’s Heisman vote after leading the Horned Frogs to a share of the Big 12 title. He is the all-time leader in pass yards with 10,727 passing yards and has 86 touchdowns. He projects to be a mid-late round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
TCU head coach Gary Patterson released a statement announcing Boykin and Preston Miller who was with Boykin are suspended for violating team rules. “We are disappointed in their actions and apologize to the TCU Horned Frogs Nation, Valero Alamo Bowl and the city of San Antonio.”
