The LSU Tigers received the commitment from four-star receiver Drake Davis during the Under Armour All-American Game.

LSU picked up the commitment from Baton Rouge native and four-star receiver Drake Davis (Bradenton, FL. IMG Academy) who committed to the Tigers over the Ole Miss Rebels who he previously named his leader.

Davis took an unofficial visit on Nov. 28 and took his official visit before the recruiting dead period took effect on Dec. 11. That visit all but clinched it for Les Miles and Cam Cameron and Tony Ball who handled the recruitment for the towering, play-making receiver.

He played his senior year of high school football with budding high school power IMG Academy. The 6-4, 215-pound receiver is the nation’s No. 93 overall recruit, No. 13 receiver and the No. 17 recruit in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The commitment from Davis gives LSU four receivers in their 2016 class with Da’Monte Coxie, Stephen Sullivan and Dee Anderson.

Also with the commitment of Davis, LSU moved past the Ohio State Buckeyes to take over the No. 1 spot in the 247Sports team rankings. The class is now 18 members deep with Davis the fifth-highest ranked commit on the board.

If Davis can emerge from a loaded depth chart and get some playing time next year as a freshman he could help quarterback Brandon Harris take his game to the next level and offer up another big target opposite Malachi Dupre and fill a role as a possession receiver who can get vertical and make plays in the red zone.
