Kyle Allen: Former Texas A&M QB transfers to Houston
Former Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen is transferring to play for Tom Herman and the Houston Cougars.
The start of 2016 has gone swimmingly for Tom Herman and the Houston Cougars who got a Peach Bowl win over the Florida State Seminoles on New Year’s Eve and less than a week later landed the commitment of former Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen, according to Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle.

Allen announced he was leaving Texas A&M in early December and was followed shortly by Kyler Murray who announced his plans to transfer to the Oklahoma Sooners, and left the Aggies with a black hole at the most important position in sports.
Meanwhile, Herman is loading up at the position with the former five-star recruit who was the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the 2014 class and has a 9-5 record in 14 career starts at Texas A&M.
Allen will have to sit out the 2016 season per NCAA transfer rules, so he’ll likely run the scout team and watch starter Greg Ward Jr. lead the team to potential back-to-back American Athletic Conference Championships and return to a New Year’s Six bowl.
Ward’s last year is in 2016 so that opens the door for Allen to be the starting quarterback in 2017 and will have two years left of eligibility.
Allen threw for 2,210 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions during two stints as the starter in 2015 and threw for 1,322 yards, 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2014 as a true freshman in relief of then-starter Kenny Hill, who has since transferred to TCU, and later replaced him in the starting lineup.

With Herman’s track record of developing quarterbacks Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones and Ward, Allen lands at a perfect place to maximize his potential, get his college career back on track and pursue an NFL career in a few years.
