Michigan State Football: Four-star receiver Donnie Corley commits to Spartans
The Michigan State football program beat the Ohio State Buckeyes again, this time, it was getting the commitment from four-star wide receiver Donnie Corley during the U.S. Army All-American Game.
Donnie Corley (Wyandotte, MI. Detroit Martin Luther King) picked the Michigan State Spartans over Ohio State and interest from Notre Dame and Michigan. The 6-3, 185-pound Corley is the nation’s No. 112 overall recruit, No. 19 receiver and the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Michigan, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He had 1,408 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior but he also had 10 interceptions playing cornerback and he said during his announcement on NBC’s broadcast of the Army All-American Game that Michigan State could play him both ways to begin his college career. Wide receiver is his preferred position but if the team needs him to pull double-duty like they did for Tony Lippett, Corley seems up to the task.
That could have been the x-factor in the decision-making process for Conley who wrestled with the decision so don’t expect Urban Meyer and Ohio State to stop recruiting him until he signs with Michigan State during National Signing Day on Feb. 3.

Credit the work from Mark Dantonio in the recruitment process for Corley who tells Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports about his decision to pick Michigan State.
“They’ve just been real with me since the beginning,” Corley said. “It was one of my first offers. I just love what Coach (Mark) Dantonio is doing up there. They’ve been winning the last couple years. They’re in need of a lot of receivers and I got a chance to play both ways. “
Corley adds to a deep and talented wide receiver class for Dantonio and Michigan State who have commitments from three other four-star wide receivers, including Cameron Chambers along with Justin Layne and Trishton Jackson.
