Twitter reactions to the Alabama Crimson Tide winning the National Championship against the Clemson Tigers.

Derrick Henry ran for 158 yards and three touchdowns, O.J. Howard had 208 yards and two touchdowns and Alabama special teams were too much for Deshaun Watson and Clemson in the Tide’s 45-40 win.

The Crimson Tide captured their fourth national title in the last seven years under Nick Saban to give the program 16 national titles overall and five overall for Saban.

It didn’t look pretty for Alabama through three quarters when they trailed 24-21 but a 24-point fourth quarter was the difference despite Watson accounting for 478 yards and four touchdowns for Clemson. The Tigers will be back next year so long as he’s healthy and Alabama is a safe bet to return to the Playoff as long as Saban is patrolling the sidelines in Tuscaloosa.

Before we can look ahead to next year, we have to digest what was the last game of the season and also the best game of the year. As you would expect, Twitter was full of hot takes and rapid reactions from fans, media and professional athletes from all sports commenting on the game they just saw.

If you missed that game, I truly feel sorry for you, because this was the best college football game since the 2006 Rose Bowl between the USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns when Vince Young scored the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds.

For a while, it looked like we could be headed toward a similar finish but Alabama was just too much tonight for Clemson who was a play or two short of winning their first national title since 1981 and second overall.
